JJ Abrams will direct sequel to "Star Trek"

JJ Abrams will direct sequel to "Star Trek". This website reported Deadline. The filmmaker has yet to give final approval to the script that has developed its team, but has agreed to take over the project as it was predictable. His company Bad Robot was already in charge of production and had Damon Lindelof ("Lost"), and the duo Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman ("Transformers") to write the story will continue with this long-running saga which began as a soap opera on the small screen space in the early sixties. Abrams and his team took up the universe "Star Trek" from the beginning two years ago with a new cast and no strings attached on what should be the fate of his characters in order to give new direction to the franchise. It is expected the sequel that begins shooting in early 2012 with an eye to release the film in December or during the summer of 2013. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and the rest of actors portraying the crew of the Enterprise in 2009 will be delivered in the second half.
